    End of summer

I love summer. Warm nights and even warmer days…longer daylight, wearing little clothing…flip flops and sandals, sundresses and short shorts…bathing suits and tans…sand between my toes. Lobsters and sunsets…picnics and cookouts. You get it. You get how I feel about summer. Why do we always rush the seasons? Fall is my second favorite season, and I love it. I love all things pumpkin and apple. I love Hayrides and fall colors. I love the foliage we have here in New England so much…I love apple picking and pumpkin picking, I love cozy blankets, fall scented candles and football season. Why do we always rush the seasons? With fashion, summertime goes…

To shop or not to shop…

Normally it’s not a question. It’s Spring, time to go through my clothes and donate what I am not going to wear again, determine what I still love, what is in good shape and what isn’t. It’s also normally a time to shop. Being home for two months now and living in pajama pants has been great, but I haven’t had a chance to wear any new clothes as of yet, and it begs the question…how many new clothes do I really need? I have been trying to support local restaurants by ordering takeout, supporting local businesses by purchasing other items that I need as well as some necessary purchasing…

Curly, straight and back to curly again!

My hair could literally have it’s own Instagram! Here’s the story…my hair. I have always had a lot of it! It is naturally wavy…and dark brown! When I was really young, it was long. Then my mom actually kept it rather short. Try as I might, I tried to grow my hair long, but it always just grew out (and up)! I started getting perms because it was the thing to do. Before my senior in high school I cut it short…really short. That was the last time it was so short. Eventually I started getting spiral perms (do you remember the spiral rods?). My hair started growing longer…finally. By…

    Simple style

I’m not one to wear a lot of makeup or a lot of accessories which is so strange, because growing up I was all about the makeup and hair and rhinestone earrings in different colors! Now I find myself being a minimalist, wearing maybe one statement piece at a time. I don’t know if it’s age, or comfort, or laziness! Whichever way you look at it, I still take as much pride in how I present myself, it might just not be as bright and blingy all the time! What makes an outfit stylish anyway? Creative ways of wearing what is already in your wardrobe, in addition with new pieces…

    50…the look

Something I often contemplate is how I am supposed to look at my age. I have always been “into” clothes and how I look. Let’s face it, ourappearance is the first thing someone sees when they meet us. It’s a firstimpression, and I don’t want to make a bad one! I was married at 24, and a few months after my wedding I cut my hair into a bob (and my hair at the time was quite long and curly). I only cut my hair because I thought it was more appropriate to look older because I was now a married woman. My hair hasn’t been that short since! I…

    my first blog post

Hi! I’m so glad you are reading my FIRST blog post! I am Flirtingwith_50 …and beyond. This is something I have been wanting to do for a long time now, and I am excited to jump in and test the waters! I have had a public Instagram account now for a little over a year now http://www.instagram.com/flirtingwith_50 and it’s been very satisfying…and I have met so many new “Instafriends” along the way, from all over the world. Having this platform has made me look forward to sharing my point of view at the age of (gulp)…50. There, I said it! I consider myself more of a lifestyle blogger, which allows…
